Places to eat
Cumbria is becoming well known for its excellent food and there are many very good restaurants, cafes and pubs within a few miles. The following are some of the ones I enjoy visiting and I know many guests do as well.
The Kirkstile Inn, our local award winning pub, is only 10 minutes walk away. It does excellent food and local beers – booking advised. The Wheatsheaf Inn, Lorton (four miles) is another popular eating place with guests. The Quince and Medlar in Cockermouth is a lovely evening out with beautiful vegetarian food and for a special occasion Lyzzick Hall at Bassenthwaite and Overwater Hall at Ireby are excellent.
