Buttermere Cottage
Buttermere Cottage was originally a former hay loft (complete with dated inscriptions of 1654 and 1827) which has been carefully converted to provide unique and private accommodation on one level. A large open plan, but cosy, room incorporates a living area looking out over the garden towards the fells, a dining area and fully equipped kitchen overlooking the courtyard. The bedroom and bathroom lead off a small hallway: the bedroom is in a pretty country style with a king size brass bedstead and antique pine furniture and the spacious bathroom includes a corner bath for two and separate shower cubicle.
The conservatory provides the perfect place to sit and have a quiet drink whilst watching the birds and red squirrels in the garden and the west facing patio area is ideal for relaxing outdoors.

A perfect week, only used the car once, so many walks to explore, so lucky with the weather too. Cottage is beyond beautiful, everything we need to hand and amazing bath. Thanks so much for being so welcoming, really don’t want to go home. Perfect break.
Lovely to be back. Thank you all so much for keeping the cottage immaculately clean. Good to see the squirrels again.
Great walks in all directions and in wonderful weather. Very handy for the Kirkstile Inn for meals and refreshments after a day on the hills. Loved watching the birds on the feeders, delicious cake and a very comfortable cottage. Perfect.
Thank you Joan for a lovely return to Buttermere Cottage, you can certainly tell you go the extra mile. You live in the best place ever, it’s amazing and we can’t wait to come back for another adventure.
