Buttermere Cottage

Buttermere Cottage was originally a former hay loft (complete with dated inscriptions of 1654 and 1827) which has been carefully converted to provide unique and private accommodation on one level. A large open plan, but cosy, room incorporates a living area looking out over the garden towards the fells, a dining area and fully equipped kitchen overlooking the courtyard. The bedroom and bathroom lead off a small hallway: the bedroom is in a pretty country style with a king size brass bedstead and antique pine furniture and the spacious bathroom includes a corner bath for two and separate shower cubicle.

The conservatory provides the perfect place to sit and have a quiet drink whilst watching the birds and red squirrels in the garden and the west facing patio area is ideal for relaxing outdoors.

Comments from Buttermere Cottage guests

We have been visiting Buttermere Cottage for 20 years and love the peace and tranquillity. In our opinion it is the most 5* Covid safe cottage ever, thanks to the efforts of Joan and her team. Delicious homemade cake also awaits…

1st year staying here….. by far one of the nicest, well equipped apartments we’ve ever stayed in. Wonderful A+
