Crummock Cottage

The entrance to Crummock Cottage is from the courtyard and one’s eyes are immediately drawn up the open staircase to the galleried kitchen and living area above. At the mezzanine level, the well-equipped kitchen and dining area has a superb view over the courtyard towards Grasmoor. The light and airy living area is up a few more stairs, open to, but separated from the kitchen by a wooden balustrade. This comfortable area has excellent views over the garden towards Low Fell in one direction and down the Lorton valley in another.

The two bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor. Both bedrooms are furnished in a country style with antique pine furniture; the master bedroom has a king size brass bedstead and the second bedroom has pine twin beds. The large bathroom has a double bath with shower over.

The cottage’s outdoor sitting area with picnic table is tucked into what was once the walled sheepfold.

Comments from Crummock Cottage guests

Thank you, Joan, this is a brilliant place to stay. We’ve walked every day from the door: enjoyed the wildness of Mosedale Beck under Melbreak, and sat by the lake in warm evening sun…. Cottage very comfortable and such a lovely setting.

What warmth, what winds, what still days! And found time to be still on Crummock shores. Red squirrels inside the nut box. Canoeing, walking, fishing, including a brown trout ¾ way up Honister Pass (returned of course) Lovely eggs and cake on arrival. Always an amazing place to stay, thank you.

Probably one of the wettest weeks ever! But you can’t drown the beauty of the Lakes. Thank you Joan and team, all perfect as usual.

Had a wonderful stay in this incredible cottage. Everything we needed inside after spending lovely days outside. We will be back.

A great week (again) in our favourite cottage. Weather pretty fair until severe deterioration on Friday. Hoping most of the lambs will be born in a settled period. Lovely walks and plenty of time spent in tea shops too. Date cake appreciated as always, Joan. Looking forward to our next visit.
